Hi all,
Just starting to research some flights for next year for some of my family. I’ve flown to Larnaca a few times so am familiar with most of the operations there from my 3 local airports (MME, NCL & LBA).
I wonder if someone could check my list and confirm that I haven’t missed anything off. (Obviously I know I can connect via other airports if I want using BA, CY and KL).
Teesside
Spanair – Wednesday
Newcastle
Thomas Cook – Wednesday
Helios – Saturday
Britannia – Sunday
Excel – Sunday
I can’t see anything for MYT – is this correct? I also can’t find anything from Leeds Bradford; there used to be a Monday rotation to Larnaca with MYT I think?
Thanks in advance. 🙂

I didnt say all flights, I said they use Britannia a/c because I was referring to Larnaca which was what this thread was about all along.

The best thing to do is to e-mail MTY. 🙂
For gods sake…. The purpose of this thread was for Pembo to find out whether MYT used their own a/c to fly to LCA. Hes now found out they use Britannia a/c. Mission accomplished. Why would he want to email MYT?

Johnny – Thats exactly what people are saying; MYT have two aircraft based at NCL but don’t employ their own aircraft on the LCA route. Instead the holidays they sell are routed on the BY aircraft.
OK, cheers for clearing that up.

I know NCL!!!!
For the millionth time, I wasnt saying MYT dont have a/c based at NCL, (I see Britannias pictures every week!), I was saying they dont use a MYTRAVEL aircraft on the MyTravel holidays to LARANCA.
Get me?

NCL – This thread is about MYT flights to Larnaca, not MYT flights generally from NCL. LBA Rules knows that MYT have 2 aircraft in NCL.

I’m confused. MyTravel Airways have 2 of their own aircraft based at NCL. However they do not go to Larnaca. For this route, they use other airlines.
That what you all mean?
By: LBARULES - 20th July 2004 at 15:48
Ah, so I was right all along!
In that case then, MyTravel Airways don’t fly from NCL, though MyTravel holidays are operated by Britannia.
Cheers Pembo 🙂

I meant exactly what you thought LBA; My Travel Airways. 🙂
By: LBARULES - 20th July 2004 at 15:42
Oh sorry guys I might have got the wrong end of the stick.
I though Pembo meant MyTravel Airways, as opposed to holidays sold by MyTravel. If that is the case then MyTravel do fly from Newcastle as they use Britannia a/c according to my search on their website.
Did you mean the airline or the holiday company Pembo?

NCL Rules,
Are you saying MYT fly from NCL-LCA or MYT fly from Newcastle, generally? 🙂

I think thats is what they do wysiwyg, that is probably where GLAsgow got his info from.

I wouldn’t be surprised if MyTravel sold holidays from NCL but sent them on TCX or BY. There are a lot of agreements between the charters to save sticking airframes where the market is largely saturated already.

LBA is more difficult I guess Pablo. It is East of the Pennines and you often see Leeds referred to as North East England, despite its proximity to Manchester.
For example, I’ve being done internet job searches recently under the criteria of North East England and most of the searches refers me to posts in Leeds. Its quite common to find actually.
As far as I am concerned, I live on Teesside and am 50 miles south of Newcastle and around 50 miles North East of Leeds. All 3 airports are ideal for travelling from for me and therefore I categorise them as my 3 local North East airports.

My point entirely
Manchester is, geographically speaking, in roughly the middle of the UK (it’s just north of Blackburn) but not England. AFAIK, the Midlands always refers to West Midlands (Birmingham etc) and East Midlands (Nottingham etc) because they are close to the middle of England (it’s not far from BHX). Manchester, on the other hand, is in North West England.
In general I always understood it that if someone says “up North” they mean Northern England (i.e. Yorkshire, the North West and North East England), Scotland and Northern Ireland. I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve ever heard the North West classified as the Midlands.
BTW, how long has Leeds (c 40 miles ENE of Manchester) been in the North East? I always thought it was in Yorkshire.
I’m not trying to be pedantic or argumentative; just never heard Manchester being classified as the Midlands before and from my perspective it seemed a bit odd  😀

MyTravel Airways do not fly from Newcastle (We have already discussed that), Spanair operate their flights from Teeside and since when has Glasgow been in North East England?
You’ve only missed out the one airport that MYT does fly to Larnaca from, LBA!
By: GLAsgow - 20th July 2004 at 13:36
MYT fly to Larnaca from Teesside, Newcastle and Glasgow
By: Pembo330 - 20th July 2004 at 13:16
Cheers LBA – a sane response. Thanks also Johnny. 🙂
I knew I remember MYT operating to LCA last year from LBA but couldn’t remember if it was still running. Strange though that with 2 aircraft based at NCL, they don’t run a flight to LCA from there.
Got there in the end…and with no extra charge for the Geography lesson! 😎

MYT dont fly to Larnaca this year from NCL, not sure if they are next year or not. Manchester is classed as being in Northern or North Western England, which is strange, because it is nearer the middle of the country than anywhere else, so it should be in the Midlands should it not?
My point entirely

Pembo, according to MyTravel.com, they are operating the same flight next year as this year from LBA to LCA. It leaves at 16:10 Sunday night, arriving 02:45 Monday the next day. The flight numbers are MYT371 and MYT372.
Hope that helps 🙂
