I’m going to try a poll on this.
Plato, who heard it from a friend of a friend of a friend, and no doubtedly modified the story a bit for his play claimed that “Atlantis” was the size of Libya and Asia combined. I’d just like to point out that in Plato’s time, Libya and Asia were not well explored and so probably considered a lot smaller than they really are.
I personally believe that the name Atlantis is a pile of croc, but that the whole concept of lost civilisation/s isn’t that far-fetched, given how many we know of that have all but dissapeared (eg. the Christmas Island (matanui?)people, aztecs, ancient egyptians etc etc)
I heard and read a lot of old British Museum studies from the 1950’s about old Buddhist and asian legends of the lost continent of “Mu”, perhaps the same one as Atlantis?
As for new-age geeks, they drive me mad cos’ they always come up with conspiracy theories and utter made-up rubbish that puts half-serious researchers to shame.
Comments welcome…

By “Asia” they meant “Asia Minor”, or Anatolya as it is called by the Turks today. And Lybia has nothing to do with Gaddafi’s little kingdom today, it was the fecund strip along the Golfe de Syrthe north of that great sea of sand; today it is a barn and sunburnt strip of rocky land.
Ever heared of the “Einstein-Velikovsky Pole Shift Theory”? Now that is something to speculate about and also has to do with Atlantis. 🙂

Here’s Patrick, emerging from Atlantis…
I remember that.
He used a rather bizarre swimming stroke.
Tried it once and bashed my head off the side of the swimming pool in the process.

Those of us blokes with satellite TV could probably ‘get it’;) from those late night uncensored German channels – but I don’t and I still have not a clue about a Stargate.
I mean how would you like it if I assumed that you knew all about what had happened on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and such like?;)

Kind of. I thought you blokes in the UK get it on Sky TV?

I wouldnt say that Libya was unexplored during Platos time. The Carthaginians certainly had a strong presence in that area. Infact about 100 years after Platos time, all of nothern Africa became the bread basket of the Roman Empire. The problem is that some historians of Greece liked to intertwine facts with fantasy, such as the Iliad and the legend of Troy.
