Well, that wasn’t too bad, actually. OK, so my wages will be lower, but there are yearly bonuses, and ample opportunity to advance up the food chain – according to the woman I spoke to, one chap was there as a temp, and eight months later he was a group manager! 😮

Good News Daz 😉 Anna 😉

Up until I became ill I absolutely loved the job I was doing, or should I say jobs. I was working as a relief OIC at a respite centre for children with physical and learning disabilities and was team leader at another unit for young adults with extreme challenging behaviour. I also did some shifts in the palliative care unit at a local hospital to keep my nursing qualification. The work was varied, stimulating, stressful and above all rewarding.

Then came two incidents, a car crash and an attack by a client. The injuries sustained masked the symptoms of a developing illness so now all I can do is live with the consequences. Things have not been so bad the last eight months overall. I think the adrenaline of projects I was involved with really helped me. Now, things are going a bit downhill again, but that’s just a natural progression of my condition.

There’s nothing wrong with whingeing about your job. God knows I did enough, both within the confines of the NHS and outside in the community. But when it’s gone through no fault of your own, you don’t half miss it. I suppose the next question would be do I regret any of what has happened to me? I can’t. Because of it I have made lasting friendships of the kind I was unable to enjoy while working. It has given me a better outlook on life. I really appreciate the small victories.

Enjoy what you’ve got while you’ve got it. And when it’s gone? just do the best you can…..

Started work the other weekend, wasn’t that bad! On friday night theres almost nothing to do, spent the last half an hour (the shop had closed) just standing around doing nothing at all! Saturday was more busy, real satisfying when i get to go home though, can’t wait for my paycheck to come through at the end of the month, i’m currently drawing up a list of things to buy, so far i’ve only got driving lessons and a 1/48 Auster
