Ive heard people claiming that even rich countries which invest significant amount of money like UK or France does not have nuclear submarines more stealth than the conventional ones . Do you think the large brazilian coast would be better defended with satelites better than nuclear subs? At the other side we invested more than 1 billion of USD on it … Whats your opinion?

Brazil does have a SSN program , well one cannot an compare a SSK to SSN, If they feel they need it and are investing in it there is obvious some reasons for it , Brazil wants to be self-reliant ,and hence investing N and space technology , They are eying for a permenant seat.
You need to have some form of Nuke ( sub or missile ) if you want those seats.

A good conventional patrol sub like a Russian Tango would suit Brazil better than an SSN. This is both for performance and cost reasons.

Why not?
If it feels it needs one (no one other than Brazil/ians can answer this question), and its naval budget can support it – go for it!

Why does Brazil need a nuclear sub, to destroy the powerful SA navies?
Brazil is at peace with everyone, they have fun, dance the samba and drink, enjoy the life and produce the most beautiful women on earth, they do not need a nuke sub.

brazil better equip it’s airforce with a new fighter instead of a useless ssn

In that case, the U214-class submarine would be a good option for the Brazilian Navy!

…SSN are expensive not only in building costs and also in operation costs. SSN are suited for deep dive long range patrols in the oceans. ie. blue water force. I don’t think Brazil needs such a force since they have nothing to protect from… there is absolutely no USSR SSN after brazil as in the case of the cold war with US. France and Britain have SSBN for their nuclear deterrance. Brazil does not have a nuke program and thus have almost no use of a SSBN.

Unless you have global commitments, nuclear SS’s aren’t really that much of an asset given the high cost. With non-nuclear powered submarines becoming more and more capable and their value in littorial waters, it would be a waste of resources to commit to such an expensive choice.
Not only is the basic SSN expensive, but there is substantial infrastructure and training involved and would also be extremely expensive.
