Caught something on Radio Norfolk this morning about the dedication of a memorial on the aerodrome at Docking yesterday.
That ties-in with the two Stearmans I saw at Old Buckenham yesterday preparing for a flypast.
Anybody know any more, have any pictures?

AFAIK the Summerfield land didn’t extend as far as the airfield though back in the day who knows??? The link has the airfield remains in the centre but it is very difficult to pick out, the telling bit is a kink in the road near to one of the old water towers between the Docking and Ringstead roads:

You probably buzzed over me once or twice back then Skybolt 😉

When the Fakenham Flying Group was founded in July 1957 our first base was at Summerfield Farm, north west of Docking. This at the kind invitation of Fred Ringer who kept his own immaculate Auster Autocar in a hangar at the centre of three large fields. He rotated these with grass, root crops and cereals to maintain their fertility in the old way. We used the field with our Tiger Moth G-ANCS for about three months until we managed to negotiate a lease from the MoD on Little Snoring aerodrome. During that time at Docking there was a large amount of PPL training along with flying by the few qualified group pilots. Some 50 years ago this month I was happily flying both dual and solo student sorties from the unlicensed field at Summerfield. Halcyon days indeed.
I often wondered if Docking aerodrome was located fairly close to, or even on the Summerfield farm land? Perhaps someone can provide the answer?
Cheers,

The airfield deserves to have something to commerate it.
A very busy station in its day, hard to spot now.
