Ok, let’s try again.
Hands up all those who would like to see an RAF Dominie (HS125) actually flying at an airshow.
The Dominie has been in RAF service for donkey’s years, but it is hardly ever seen actually in the air.
I know it wouldn’t make the most agile of performers, but the opportunity to get photographs and actually witness one flying would be a rare treat indeed.
And don’t forget those Top-Side passes, gentlemen.

By my reckoning some 11 Dominies remain flying. Several have been retired for use as technical training airframes, mostly at Cosford, and two have gone to the FSCTE at Manston, which will undoubtedly mean an eventual fiery end.

Yeh I would like too see a RAF Dominie (HS125) at an airshow would be very nice seeing what the pilots can do with the Dominie (HS125).

There are actually two versions of the HS125 in RAF service, the Dominie or HS125 bought in an early batch of 20 in about 1965 or so, and a later batch of 6 or 7 BAE125’s (which do not seem to be labeled Dominie) in the mid 70’s to supplement a few that were allocated to the Queen’s Flight.
Never heard of any being lost – although I have an idea some of the QFs earlier models may have been retired in the 1990’s.
That does mean that a fair proportion of the 1965 batch are probably still flying – 41 years actually in service!

I was on the Royal Review planning team in ’77 @ (lowly SAC giving out the coordinated times for the flypast 🙂 ) I’m sure there was a formation of Dominies after the JP formation……will have to try and find my old notes
Remember flying with them on the Navexs on a night shift and the Varsity ranger trips to Berlin.

Excellent suggestion Rob. I have never really thought about it, as there has never been a ‘display Dominie’ ratified by the MoD, as they are always far too busy trying to show us the latest types. I have just checked my slide archives and the last time I saw one in a flying display was at the first Greenham Common IAT in July 1973!! Don’t think there were even any in the Queen’s Jubilee Flypast at Finningley in 1977?

I was posted to Finningley in the early-mid ’70’s – ’73 early ’74 if I recall. Definitely remember one airshow there – it must have been ’73, as by the spring of ’74 I was pretty much on my way to Lossiemouth.
And Finningley is more or less where I gained my appreciation for the old bird.

They displayed a lot at finningley in the 70s. it was a good display aircraft. 🙂
