Donaldson International Airlines Bristol Britannia names

Can anyone take a guess why Donaldson called their Britannias “Nike”, “Carillon”, “Juno” and “Mikado”. Other than being nice sounding names, I can’t think of any reasons. However, Juno was Jupiter’s wife and was “Queen of the heavens” so that sounds appropriate, but as for the rest?
Thanks
Tom

Tom,

Nike was the goddess of speed, strength and victory in Greek mythology and flew around battlefields rewarding the victors with fame and glory. In most statues and paintings she is depicted with wings. All in all very appropriate for an airline.
