For anyone interested these are the current planned flights from DSA for next Summer:
Thomsonfly(IT) 1 Based B737-800(2 a/c to come from Britannia Nordic)
Thomsonfly(Sch) 3 or 4 Based B737-500/300s
These airlines will also be operating “W” rotations or visiting from home country.
Thomas Cook Airlines
Excel Airways
Pegasus
Balkan
Air Malta
I expect the services to literally take off from here due to the large catchment area covering South Yorkshire, North Notts and North Lincs.
Here are some photos before/after building of the terminal had started..

In Pilot magazine recently the airport was inviting applications for free landing slots in the New Year. They wanted pilots to bring their aircraft so that the ATC controllers could sort out their systems and get some practice.

yes theres more than you think to do especially access wise, theres currently no way to get there without going down an old small road, but the terminal and stands are coming on well. The terminal is bigger than you think.

To be fair it looks like a fair hive of activity down there, but as it is only around 20 weeks now until the opening of the airfield for scheduled flights this is to be expected.
It will be very interesting to see what flights will be announced by TOM later in the week.

It would be typical BMi Baby starting up yet another base at an airport already with a low cost operator…
and near other bases – EMA, MAN
