What i meant about theair bridges its like a brand new airport using 757’s i wud of thought they would have one but i suppose thet could be in the improvment part

The lack of airbridges is nothing unusual; many busier airports don’t have any such as Bristol, Nottingham/EMA, Liverpool & Luton.

The terminal design at Doncaster/Sheffield could have 3 airbridges added quite easily though.

They don’t have air bridges but have gate bridges! They only have a few movements a day because it only opened a year ago but the list of destinations is growing as the months go by

Cheers,
Sam

Airbridges are not so commonly used anywhere unless you fly mailine in a large aircraft.
I did 110 flights last year and probably only 20 were on airbridges.
Locos almost never being on an airbridge.
Even BA,KLM or who ever, are not always on an airbridge.

If you want small try flying from Teesside, the place is smaller than the ASDA i work at.

If you think Teeside is small, come and see Plymouth’s Terminal it’s like a cow shed :D:D

Well from what I have seen, it was clean and efficient but very very very small and quiet!

DSA. I thought long haul ops were to start this year? Or so I thought…

Indeed, Thomsonfly are using a 767 there, to start Carribean, Florida and Mexican services

Peel Holdings who own DSA also own Sheffield Airport. Over the next few months the runway length will be reduced and the airport will be operated purely for light a/c,, private jet and helicopter (including emergency services) operations, the rest of the site will be redeveloped as a business park.

We used DSA last October for a trip to Valencia – if you thought LBA was quiet you aint seen nothing yet! Don’t arrive too early as there is nothing to do at DSA – only one shop and one bar when we were there (although more were being developed – due for completion in Summer 05,we went in October!). Parking is very handy though as it’s right in front of the terminal.

I think Sheffield ‘City’ Airport has been closed for a while now.

What happened to Sheffield Airport alongside the M1 – seems to have disappeared off the schedules?

Have to agree…Very nice airport, almost like a mini Stansted, parking is convinient and not to badly priced.

Agree with TommyinYork…Doncastor/Sheffield-Robin Hood is a boggle of a name…would of been better to let Ryanair name it London-North or Edinburgh-South
