There’s a piece of footage of an airman ringing a bell during the Battle of Britain, which has chalked onto it “Don’t Come and Tell, Ring This Like Hell !”
I am curious, which airfield was that filmed at? And does the bell exist in a museum anywhere? It is such a famous, iconic piece of footage, it’s seen in all the documentaries and news items these days.

Ah yes, a standard Air Ministry issue fire bell which are, thanks to that clip, always sold as scramble bells for silly amounts of money. They were still in use at the fire points on RAF Stafford well into the early 2000s.
I don’t know where the bell ringing was filmed but scene that follows shows 602 Sdn members running to their Spitfires at Prestwick during the filming of ‘A Yank in the RAF’ in late 1940.

It always looks ever so ‘built-up’ wherever it is; aircraft all bunched-up near buildings (pens?) and mature trees. Not exactly your typical flat airfield and hardly a model of ‘dispersal’.
I’ve no doubt it was a pre-Battle-of-Britain (pre-war?) propaganda shoot…..but where?
