Here’s some more trivia for a Sunday morning. If your house was on fire, obviously you’ld save kids, pets, maybe even the wife/husband first. But what one inanimate object would you take too ?By the way, you’re Superman/woman,so you can carry an entire CD collection if you have to .

He looked puzzled and replied: “The collection.”
Did he mean his secret stash of literature and films for the discerning gentleman or was he merely refering to museum exhibits?:D

Leave anything that is insured – so I’ll grab two things. My photo albums (my memories and some original aircraft pics) and a small box of things from World War II which also contains an envelope with three momentoes from my Grandfather’s service in World War I on destroyers. I never met him and it’s all I have.
Mind you this reminds me of the story of a museum director who was showing the local fire brigade round his museum. Fascinated by the many unique objects and manuscripts they asked him which was the single thing they should try to save if there was a fire.
He looked puzzled and replied: “The collection.”

The new combi boiler- cost a bloody fortune, that did.
And the new radiators, there no way I’m leaving them.

Hi
It’s a print, no 44/500, and it’s in the hallway so if there’s a fire I can grab
it and run.:D

Base unit of PC.
100gb of photographs on there, plus other stuff.
…..and yes, they are backed up but if there’s a chance to grab the base unit…

Hey,there’s nothing stupid about cherishing teddy bears ! I’d go straight for the compass set in a piece of polished serpentine that belonged to my Cornish Grandad. It’s about the first object I can remember and used to sit on the whatnot in my grandparents’ front room.( Anyone still got a whatnot ? )

Mine is really stupid – It is my old faithful teddy bear.
Yeah I know…
He was given to me by my late paternal grandfather the day after I was born & has been all over the place with me over the years. Sadly I never really got to know my grandfather as he died suddenly when I was about 2 as an indirect result of foiling a robbery for which he got a bravery award. He had such plans for me & what we’d do together.
Although more darn than bear and virtually a bare bear with no hair he means a lot to me.

I have a very expensive sprinkler system fitted to my wine cellar…I’d go down and lock the door behind me … open my best Grange hermitage …and wait ’till the house burned down

Hi
This picture given to me by Chris who was on BBMF at the time, he was in the rear turret on that day, it is signed by the crew of the Lanc & Spits, the poppies are the ones that were left in the bomb bay after the flight.
Print by Robin Smith.

Boring choice for me really; either all my important docs or a portable HDD with years of data on it.

Let’s assume first for a second that I don’t panic and take the first thing I can get my hands on, with my luck that would probably be somethin stupid like an advertising leaflet of the local curry shop.
I got a box under my bed with family photos, college degrees etc and a few binders with insurance, tax and bank papers. If I then still got time I would go for the portable harddrive with photos and MP3s. The clock I inherited from granddad would have to come as well. Everything else is for the insurance to work out.

My absolute most prized possession is my beautiful G&L L2500 5 string bass, so it would have to be that! 🙂

The medals, photographs and rosary my Grandfather carried throughout the Great War, My maternal Grandfather’s medals and photographs and the medals and photographs awarded to Dad’s brother, Uncle Stan, who died five years ago as a result of injuries received when he was attacked in his home. And the photograph of a little girl who i never had the privelege of knowing.
I know it’s more than one thing but if people and pets had gotten out safely they are the only things I would bother going back for.
Regards,

My wallet. It’s a lot lighter since getting married and having a child, but it still has a certain nostalgic value.

I would have to take all my aviation framed pictures:) but having said that, it would take so long to get them all down I would probably be dead.:D

Thought this was going to be some reference to Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy! 🙂
What inanimate object would I save?. The filing cabinet – its where the home and contents insurance docs live! 😀
