Dornier DO27A-1 Reg G-BMFG serial number 342 has a new owner and the aircraft is due to arrive at St Athan for a short while soon. The new owner has expressed an interest in finding out some history on the aircraft and wishes to paint it in a scheme that the aircraft originally had. Can anyone help with the information as at present there is very little to go on. Thanks

Ahhh the Bruggen stars… Lol… they were winding up as we were winding down on 14 Jags.

News! Pictures of Vadim, Colin Hales and engineers. Aircraft transited St Athan to Colins place for a quick shake down then onward across the channel and now in Munster Germany. Looking forward to more pictures from Vadim and Colin as the aircraft makes its way across Europe and into Russia.

Hope the thread will continue on her Russian adventures.

A sad day, I was actually thinking of you the other day, reading one of the latest mags they had an article on a pair of civilian aircraft and one on the German Reg had been given permission to wear its full Getman military scheme.. Which struck me as double standards and may have been a bargaining point.

Pleased to announce that our Dornier has been sold to Vadim a very experienced Russian Pilot who is looking forward to a long ferry trip and has plans to film it which will be interesting. The sale was facilitated by Colin Hales who many of you will be familiar with for his exploits and knowledge of all things GA. Elaine and I would like to thank the many people involved with FG over the years including the two previous owners. Rex Ford was a go to expert as were the team at St Athan under John Sparks and lastly the owners group in Germany who have been very supportive over the years of ownership.
Thanks to all who have posted and if the right project comes along Elaine and I might be tempted as long as it does not involve the CAA and C of A!

Hi Tony, we thought about airshows but were unable to put it into a military paint scheme and after Shoreham Would not go near a show unless we wanted to fly in and watch then leave. Just flying around the UK a pain thanks to Airspace and regulations. We do our own thing and share pictures where we can.

In a way I can totally understand it, it will be a sad day though, shame you cannot get some work for it, shows / camera ship etc, though that brings even more cans of worms with it..

Flew two prospective customers later on. If we get a sensible offer then we sell Tony.

St Athan to Lundy via Woolacombe, brief touch down on short bumpy strip and then back. Flew Lars and Hans later in the day, mixing it in the circuit with vintage fast jets also flown by Norwegians!

Not entirely unexpected news as you have shared your trials and tribulations with the Dornier as well as the good times…
Thanks for this thread – it has been an amazing insight into the issues involved with operating such an aircraft. Some great posts by other GA operators as well, such as Ozplane (Hi Chris!)
I’m sure you will keep us informed!
