Good news from the NBAA show in America…the Dornier Seaplane Company has the necessary funding to launch production of the Seastar twin turboprop amphibian.
The firm will decide within the next 90 days between two Canadian production sites. Training will be done in Florida.
Production will start in 2011. The firm says they have about 25 letters of intent and the first delivery date available is in 2013 which means (based on released company production plans) that they have 7-18 firm orders.
They estimate a 300-500 aircraft market over the next decade. The cost is $6 million.
