Very upsetting news here. Everything crossed that it is OK for him, and justice is done 🙁
World War Two hero pilot, 92, who survived 70 missions against the Luftwaffe fights for life after being victim of hit and run driver
Doug Gregory was in the RAF in World War Two and survived almost 70 missions against the Germans, being awarded Distinguished Flying Cross
He survived missions as well as a brain haemorrhage to continue flying
In 2013 he retired from as a stunt pilot at 90, after seven decades in cockpit
Mr Gregory was knocked down by a car on Monday morning which failed to stop and the 92-year-old veteran is now in a ‘serious condition’ in hospital

If you happen to be on the NW side of Southampton around 14:30, look to the skies. Farewell Doug.

Hi All,
I have just been thinking of what to write since reading this very sad news, I never new the man or met him and from what those who did have said here on this forum he was a true Gentleman my heart really goes out to his Family.
I have mixed emotions writing this on the one hand I feel like I have been punched in the gut and winded very badly total shock is what I felt when reading Moggys post but along with this sadness for the news of his passing and the trauma his Family have been caused is one of anger at the Woman/Criminal/Coward who selfishly drove away leaving Mr Gregory on the flaw in the road and can’t but hope that she will be charged with manslaughter at the least with her despicable act in this atrocious of all acts committed the two opposite ends of the spectrum One a Hero who would have sacrificed his own life for the better good the other a selfish callous killer whose only thought of the act was self preservation only to slink back after a guilty conscious has taken hold.
Good bye Mr Gregory never was the word Hero uttered in the same sentence as a pilots name deserved RIP and to his Family and close friends my thoughts are with you all.
Geoff.

Unless the family have requested privacy, if anyone knows of the funeral arrangements perhaps they would place it here.

A great man, from a great generation.

Very very sad news, he and his family deserved better than this. Sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
For a second you were flying
Like you always wanted to
Now you’ll fly forever
In skies of azure blue
Indeed a sad day. I met Doug briefly at Project Propellor and two of my veterans I flew there last year, both in their early 90’s have also left the circuit.
Blue skies gents, the brief time I spent with you will always be cherished.

I’m afraid he didn’t make it.

Glad he is making good, if slow, progress. At that age healing takes a lot longer as I’m well aware from my late parents. Here’s hoping that his progresss continues. Will pop a card in the post for him tomorrow as I’m at work at the moment.
