I’m trying to trace the history of Doug Reich (pronounced Reesh) and his time in the RAF. He is a family friend and I believe still with us although I’ve not seen him for 30 odd years.
I know he lived in the Cheshire/Staffordshire area, and as a younger man he showed me pictures of him with Lockheed Hudsons and P-51C’s. His last flight in the war was flying a Mustang on a PRU sortie along the Rhine, coming under attack from Fw-190’s, and his wingtip hitting the river. His next recollection was waking in a German hospital, before internment into a PoW camp.
I’ve contacted the RAF museum with these scant details to no avail. Can anyone elaborate further please?
I’m keen to learn Sqn, service details, date of the crash, time in captivity, Hudson Sqn details, and anything else. I may have got the spelling of his surname incorrect (I know, I know), but that’s all I have.
Over to the experts….

Hi Piston,
Here is a starting point for you.

You may be able to get in contact with Doug Reich via the No.II(AC) Sqdn Association. They may have contact details for him as he has been fairly active with the Squadron Association over the years.
Regards,
