Interested in information about a documentary supposedly featuring Douglas Badar, that was filmed at Denham in July 1956. I have it recorded in an aircraft logbook that this aircraft flew to Denham for BBC filming on the 26th July 1956. I understand from the owner of the aircraft at this time, that it was televised a few weeks (August/September) and featured Dougkas in some way.
Does anybody out there in forum land have any information on it?

Thanks Skeeker, I have a few feelers out with colleagues who work in the BBC so hopefully will find which desk my request needs to land on via an “insider”
Will update the forum if something comes up, but by all means if somebody has a copy, please post away!!

The ‘Genome’ project appears to be just BBC listings from The Radio Times, rather than to have any links to actual available material. The BBC ‘online’ programme archive called ‘BBC Motion Gallery’ was held and administered by the BBC until a few years ago, but is now held and administered on their behalf by Getty Images – see here – http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/footage/bbcmotiongallery
It is searchable but any results are somewhat limited by the description of the material. When you input a search term you will need to check for ‘analogue’ results in a pop up window at top right, otherwise anything analogue won’t appear. Having searched ‘Kenneth More’, ‘Douglas Bader’ and ‘They Reach For The Sky’ myself, the programme named did not appear. I suspect that given the age of the programme concerned you would be more likely to get a positive result by asking the BBC/Getty archivists themselves?

What a fantastic archive!
Yes, it makes one wish that one could watch what was rather than what, nowadays, is on BBC Television!

If you drop a line to Mrs. Beatrice Paul the owner of Denham, mentioning the reason for the query, she might remember the occasion.

Ok, the joys of posting from an iPhone in a hurry without checking it. No need to be petty, everybody knows who I am talking about…
The owner said it was definately a documentary for the BBC, although he’s in his 90s now, he’s still very switched on and with it, he just couldn’t remember the name. He thought it involved lots of people flying in for BadEr to be surrounded by aeroplanes whilst interviewed. If I can get a title, I can approach the BBC to see if they have a copy in their archives still.

Hi
I think this may be the film ‘Reach for the sky’ and not a documentary.
Some of the filming was done at Denham in 1956.
