Dowdings Office & RAF Bentley Priory

I have just had a textile conservator here today packing one of the magnificent Battle of Britain lace panels (one displayed at Hendon) for transportation to the RNZAF Museum. It is one of 31 “known” panels out of 38 manufactured. Another of these lace panels is at Bentley Priory, and the textile conservator told me she has been commissioned to pack for storage the panel displayed there. Currently, I am told, Dowding’s office is full of packing crates. Sad news.
