DR Compass

I recently purchased a selection of instruments and this was amongst them.

I suspect that it is from a Sunderland , but not 100% sure. Can anyone add any more information about possible aircraft fit?

Thanks.

The old memory cells are painfully clanking away.
The D.R. stands for distant reading.

Thanks for the information.

It is available if anyone is in need of it for a project. The freight cost from New Zealand might be a bit painful though!:)

Is this what was called something like Magnasyn.? The master unit would mounted in the fin or somewhere well away from magnetic interference. The heading was transmitted to a slave, or slaves, in the cockpit and nav positions.

Yes, most large aircraft used them (including Whitleys) mid war onwards. Nice item!
