Dragon In Distress

Our Dragon was involved in “A bit of Bovver’ a couple of weeks ago and now has a bent undercarriage leg. Does anyone know of a spare Dragon’s leg kicking about which may be available? The main inner slider portion is the most critical as we may be able to straighten the outer casing but one of those would also be a help.

Stan
Maybe call Andy Baxter, he reworked my legs for G-ACET, he did a great job. Maybe he could make you one. I have the drawing and spec’s if that helps. What about John Sinclair with G-ACMO or Colin Smith…

Sideslip, I have most of the drawings for the leg. It can be made but will be a rather major job with press tooling to swage the end of the casing, The Slider is of 10 swg (0.128″ which is close enough to 1/8 (0.125″). I will need to press out two U sections, weld together and then surface grind. Can be done but, as you can realise, another leg would save a lot of “bovver”.
If anyone has any influence with the Science Museum, they have CIT at Wroughton, and The Museum Of Flight at East Fortune have SNB. I can make up a good looking, but unserviceable leg, from bits I have which could be swapped for one of the Museum ones which could be made Serviceable. Anyone know anyone???

Sorry to hear about that Stan. Is it a part that you can have made if you can’t find one?

I am very sorry Stan, but most of us mere mortals don’t have a clue what you are talking about. What manner of Dragon? What manner of “Bovver”. There are in-jokes and there is just being obscure. Sorry to p*ss on your parade and when I understand what you are talking about I will probably join in your sense of loss. Until then my response is that of my kids- Que?

I’m a “Mericun” who never heard of the DH Dragon before coming to this forum, and I knew what he was asking about.

Stan if you have a part number I could do a partsbase search for you, you never know…

Failing that, these guys used to send me brochures all the time, any help?
