I was sat in my parent’s Garden this afternoon (between Royston & Barkway) and saw a Dragon Rapide fly over and look like it landed at the farmstrip at Reed for about an hour and then took off again. Anbody know which one it was what it was doing there? It was a bit far away, but it looked like it was RAF silver with yellow stripes.

Hmmm, The Cabinet at Reed is only slightly closer than the Tally Ho in Barkway!
Looks like it runs straight across the footpath between Reed and the end of Church Lane in Barkway (rode it on an old Moped a few times in my mid teens…)

Just googled and found this, I did not know there was an airstrip at Reed either.

Indeed there is a Strip inbetween Reed and Buckland.. Can be seen on the Buckland to Barkway road…
It is Ken Duke’s farm at Reed. I know that a Dragon Rapide has landed there before a few years ago.

Apparently there has been a Farmstrip there for a year or so, although I have Never visited and am not sure how long the runway is.
Hopefully it is within walking distance of The Cabinet for swift refreshment!

Reed has a landing strip !!!!!
That’s news to me! Blimey, apart from a Vets (soon to be relocated) and a radio mast, I thought that was as good as it got for the sprawling urban mass, better known as Reed….how wrong a bloke can be!
Hang on….it didn’t land on the village cricket pitch did it? 😉
