The DH89A Rapide G-AKRP (formerly operated by Rex Ford at Sywell) dropped in to Bourn yesterday before departing to Eaglescott with its new owner.

When I fly I occasionally get the occasional whine from my passengers, usually because they want to get out…..

“I really would have preferred a Chablis and it could do with being a bit colder and these glasses are the wrong shape and they haven’t been polished properly and did you see the fingernails on that sommelier?”
That sort of thing?
Doh!

I’ve had a passenger ride in her.
Lovely leather chairs at a stately hundred knots or so over the Cambridgeshire countryside.
A glass or two of white whine and the nose pointed towards Paris would have made it perfect. 🙂

Well guys, she is not coming to Iceland 🙁 I think I put it on here a couple of months ago, that she was coming over here. The would be owners (icelandic ones) were absolutly sure they had secured her and told me they had even paid a deposit on the purchase. About a month ago, or so, I had it confirmed that the deal fell through, the reasons for which, I do not know.

Ditto to Iceland also! Heard she will be repainted as one of the original aircraft operated by Icelandair.

Had some great times with her at Sywell – glad she’s staying in the UK – I heard Iceland too…

Would you recognise him ?
Yep, thats him.
He owns Eaglescott, plus a majority share in the Chipmunk there, plus a static Hunter rotting on the gate.
He also owned several Hunters at Exeter including G-BWFT, but i’m told his partnership (beit financial or otherwise) with Hunter Flying Club has since disolved.

Even after all these years they are still a beautiful aircraft and that has to be one of the best examples in existence.

Oh and nice pics by the way. I’m glad she survived a winter in the open at Cranfield.
