Dragons' Den – BBC2: Just out of curiosity

…what is that elevated sculpture that is so prominent in the below stairs reception area shots?

It is a short length of aircraft fuselage with annular frames with lightening/strengthening flanged holes, what could be a jet orifice and rear centre mounted trailing edge fillets.

I could imagine it might be the tail cone of a Vampire.

Art? ART?

In another 50 years this component will likely have thin but robust provenance for a serious rebuild to airworthyness?

It is indeed the (rather battered) tailcone from a Vampire. Always makes me smile – I just dont see it as ‘art’!

Now there’s a fund-raising opportunity!, drag a few out of the stores and sell them as art, I know an art/scuplture shop on Aldeburgh high street that would eagerly sell them for a 4 figure sum, it would be much more attractive than the C**p they had in the window this week!

Thank you! I’ve been wondering what that was from. I suppose it’s meant to represent engineering innovation.
