[QUOTE Paint the A380 red and it’ll look a lot more like a double-decker airplane. :p[/QUOTE]
It’s a good job no-one has.
I think the 787 looks a bit like a Caravelle if you take the engine layout out of it. People are also surprised at how small it is.

Brirish Airways have eight on order
I don’t know why people keep comapring the looks of this to the A.380
This is more 767 size so no direct comparison
If its comapring recent designs then yes, the A.380 is ugly whereas the 787 is emabrrasing ugly…the ugliest Jetliner ever built.
The 380 suffers from being a double decker. A nice looking double decker is yet to be produced.
The 787 has no excuse:D

Great photos’…..There is only one airliner that beats the 787 for looks & originality & thats the VC 10 !!
Vulcan 😀
I prefer the 787 to the A380. The 787 at least has some style. Paint the A380 red and it’ll look a lot more like a double-decker airplane. :p

Couldn’t agree more. I am not a fan of the 787 either.

Fantastic shots!! ugliest bird in the sky without doubt..IMO..of course, but fantastic to be able to such close shots of it… Was wondering WHY it went to heathrow since Thomson is the launch customer?? are BA thinking of buying them??
Caught a very fleeting glimpse of it landing at MAN the other day…was expecting it to be much larger..i thought at first glimpse it was a B762:eek:
Is Thomson the worldwide launch customer for it?

stangman. The last time that I implied that modern airliners were designed by computers, I was almost hung drawn and quartered by another member on here, for implying same, once bitten, twice shy;)
Ha Ha! yes well the forum would be boring if we all agreed on everything.:D

I think it is probably a very capable aircraft designed accordingly with its inteaded use and will perform as expected.
It is also the future of airliners. It just has nothing that looks good.I don’t like the nose or the tail and what is in between is like most other modern airliners.
At the risk of delving into nostalgia they don’t make them like they use to.
These days modern airliners all seem to be designed by the same computer and to a certain extent look the same. They have no character.Sure it does what it was designed for [thats its job].
As the saying goes “it does what it says on the tin” i just don’t like the look of the tin.
Beauty is also in the eye of the beholder………………………………… .but i dont behold any beauty IMHO.

The mood lighting comes as standard on all 787’s. Interesting the cockpit windows dont open and so crew escape is through a little hatch on the roof like the 747.

I have to say that I tend to agree with you. But as someone has said elsewhere on this forum, its aerodynamics rather than aesthetics that is the main priority. IMO, apart from that nose, the rest looks pretty unremarkable.
But thanks for these interesting shots, It’ll probably be the closest I’ll ever get to one!

Do you really think so? I’d say with those engines and swept back wing she has an elegance never before seen.

she is a beauty – thank you for those.
Is this one of the 787’s that has the funky mood lighting?
