Dover Harbour board have applied to dredge on the Goodwin Sands. A petition against it sights ( among its reasons) the disturbance of wrecks including war graves.

If it’s a bunch of members from this forum, there will be far too much sand thrown around this sand box!

Safety goggles and those stupid hi vis vests mandatory. 😀

“This sand will be used to help make a major project at Dover harbour.”

Maybe they plan to hire out soil sieves to aviation buffs for £100 a day? Basically a children’s sandpit for adults of a certain persuasion. They could employ a few forumites to sit in a portakabin, gamely sorting the variously sifted finds into one of three categories: ‘aviation’, ‘non-aviation’ and ‘will it be at Legends?’.

There’s still a KLM Fokker F.III down there that was landed there in Octobet 1923 after an engine failure. All occupants picked up by boat before high tide…

Could it be that the Dover Harbour Board have been busy reading about buried Spifires and see a chance to augment their income from more than one source ?

More importantly, it will prevent cricket being played on the sands. What next? The pitch at Lords being excavated for gravel!
