Driving fast cars and ice skating

One you can’t and one you can !

Our friendly EU proposes that all new cars will be fitted with speed limiters ensuring that throughout the EU no one can go any faster than 70mph – or, whatever that is in kilopedes or such. The Germans won’t like that.

This year, ice cover in the Arctic has extended by about 60 percent which equals about 1,000,000 square miles over that which it was last year, 2012. So, if you’re fond of ice skating or, you have a sledge, fill yer boots ! Just don’t mention it to any ‘scientist’ from the IPCC.

Ah.. so a non-story?

I also Googled the ice thing. Looks like it was a direct lift from that bastion of factual accuracy, The Daily Mail.

Nuff said?

All you need to know about the Arctic is here http://nsidc.org/.

A fascinating site which is the source of the story but in context it is only a glitch in a steady pattern of reduction over the last 30/40 years.

Yes, indeed, John. I read the report with wry amusement….but it’s for “the other thread”!! Indeed some of the IPCC “scientists” are getting the wobbles!

Could be on to a winner there John, removing the limiter from the new cars. I just can’t imagine anyone not finding the need to go faster than 70MPH. And what happens IF the proposed limit on U.K. Motorways is upped to 80 MPH.?. Pardon the pun, but I think the EU is skating on thin ice on this idea. There again, what’s new?.
