Well had two lessons so far, my second one being a two hour lesson yesterday and i have the luck to be learning in a brand new Mini with a Union Jack roof 😀
Have 9 lessons left that were pre-booked so i hope it won’t be too long before i’m driving with an official license. The only problem lies in actually getting a car/insurance etc etc 😉
So i was just wondering who on this forum drives? for how long? how many lessons you had before you passed? Maybe your in the process of learning to drive like me 😎 😀

Twas easy, just look for the hazards, click when you see it, and if it causes you to alter speed or position, just keep clicking more. I got 59, only needed 44 🙂

Motorcyclists over 50cc are allowed as far as I know, I am prepared to be corrected :D.
227: Prohibited vehicles. Motorways MUST NOT be used by pedestrians, holders of provisional car or motorcycle driving licences unless exempt, riders of motorcycles under 50cc, cyclists and horse riders. Certain slow-moving vehicles and those carrying oversized loads (except by special permission), agricultural vehicles and most invalid carriages are also prohibited.
Laws HA 1980 sects 16, 17 & sch 4, MT(E&W)R reg 4, MT(E&W)(A)R, R(S)A sects 7 ,8 & sch 3 & MT(S)R reg 10
Yep, so that confirms it. I don’t understand the DSA/AA test, whichever one marked it as right.
Anyway, I seem to be making progress, since I got 29 today.
The hazard perception test seems very hard, how was it?

I drive…i drive my parents up the wall
Drive me up the wall posting such dribble…

How stupid. On the AA website I took a test and a question came up which cannot ride on a motorway, and I schose; Motorcycles over 50cc, tractors, learner motorcyclists and horse riders. I got it right, but I did a DSA test, and I chose the samme four and got it wrong! 😡

I’ve started my driving lesson months ago and I still have trouble with parking.

Every driving lesson is official every driving lesson is the same whether you take your theory the day after you start or 5 years after you start. Of course you will do different things, but at the end of the day your learning to drive.
Technically theres no such thing as an official lesson, every lesson is the same.
By: A330-300 - 21st December 2005 at 19:35
The driving lessons before the theories aren’t official ones are they?
By: LBARULES - 21st December 2005 at 19:32
Your theory doesn’t have to come first. You can learn to drive for a year and then take your theory if you want, I started driving in October and took my theory in December.
You dont have theory lessons, you have driving lessons. They say that by starting learning to drive, you can pick up things that help you pass your theory, and you should also study for your theory using books/cd roms. Theory is mainly common sense anyway, fairly easy, along with the hazard perception element.
There is no set order, apart from the fact that to take the practical driving test, you first have to pass your theory test.

That didn’t make sense. The theories come first.
By: LBARULES - 21st December 2005 at 19:25
You dont have theory lessons… the best thing to do is start driving lessons, then study for your theory by reading one of many driving theory test books available.
Passed my theory two weeks ago, my test booked 3rd of February!

I need to book my theory lessons soon. I’ve been practising them, and doing not so well. Any advice?

Chances are there were tests on the 31st, so sorry to say it but you probably weren’t. My test was on the 31st December 1997, the guy who did my test informed me that because the 31st isn’t a bank holiday then they have to work it. My test was at the other end of the day though, 9.30 on New Years Eve, so I wasn’t the last to pass int he country, but not too far off I’m sure.
OK well maybe just in NI as the Driving Instructors were all on strike and did not work the 31st. I was very lucky to get my test and was through a instructor taking pitty on me!

Bugger.
The bugger failed me for signaling left before a roundabout, when he wanted me to take the second exit.
BUT
The first ‘exit’ is to a school which has very large NO ENTRY signs on it and a PADLOCKED gate!!
Apparently it could have been a danger to the car that was approaching, despite the fact that HE was signaling left (i.e to carry on around the road) and was all of 100 metres away.
Im insenced at this- but theres no point in appealing because it can’t overturn the decision. Otherwise I got 9 minors.
Sheer stupidity.

I’d rather not admit that after driving for 41 years I’m still c**p at reversing unless it’s round corners.
