The MiG-21 thread got me thinking……can we all compile a list of the various sizes of drop tanks that fighter-sized airplanes can carry and where they can carry them. There are several aircraft for which I don’t know the drop tank sizes for…….here are a few I think I know…..if I’m wrong please correct me.
F-4 – 1×600-gallon centerline tank, 1×610-gallon centerline tank, 2×370-gallon outboard wing tanks
F/A-18 (regular Hornet) – 5×330-gallon tanks, 2×480-gallon tanks
F-15 – 3×610-gallon tanks, 2×725-gallon CFT’s
F-16 – 2×370-gallon inboard wing tanks, 2×600-gallon inboard wing tanks, 1×300-gallon centerline tank
F-5E/F – 3×275-gallon tanks (inboard wing and centerline)
MiG-21bis – 3×130-gallon tanks, 1×210-gallon centerline tank, 1×265-gallon centerline tank
MiG-25 – 1×1,700-gallon centerline tank
MiG-29 – 2×305-gallon inboard wing tanks, 1×400-gallon centerline tank
MiG-31 – 2×660-gallon outboard wing tanks
Anyone else?
