Hi all,
A friend of mine and I are flying to Dublin for the day with Ryanair on the 27th June, but we have never been before!
We are due to arrive into DUB at 11:15am and depart at 7pm, but I have not paid for online check-in, so we will need to be back at the airport for 5pm!
This means we will have about 5.5 hours to take in the sights and sounds of the city, so I was wondering if someone can offer any suggestions of things to do whilst we are there!
And also, does anyone know if there is there a bus/train service from the airport to the city centre? If so, how much would it cost for a return journey?
Many thanks.

I am going to Dublin on the same day! 😀
The last times that i visited there was a ticket machine outside the terminal building in front of the bus stops where you can get a ticket for travel for upto 90 minutes on any bus except the air link ones for just 2 or 3 euro, i usually buy two each (one for the return) as catching the bus back can be quite crowded in Dublin and it just makes it a bit easier knowing you dont have to pay the driver or get in the queues at the ticket centre. If you do choose to do this get the 16A bus from outside the terminal which takes you to O’Connell Street in the Centre of Dublin and takes around 50 minutes. If you want to get there quicker though get the 747 bus like MATaxi said ,which usually costs 6 euro and takes about 30 to 35 minutes.
Hope this helps.

Dublin is very easy to access from the airport , I was there about three weeks ago. Firstly when you leave the terminal turn left and walk up to the Bus Stop where the Dublin Citybus no 747 leaves from. Six euros each way and this bus will stop in O’Connell Street ; ask the driver to tell you when you get there. Buses run every 15 mins each way.
From O’Connell Street you walk down and across into Grafton Street which is the main shopping street and theres loads of bars and stuff just off there.
Alternatively walk down O’Connell Street cross the river and turn right which takes you right into Temple Bar…more eats , more beer.
Hop-on/hop-off citybus tours leave from the bottom of Grafton Street too so thats an idea along with the Guinness storehouse.
Its an easy place to get round and get back from. A reasonable spotting place airside is the Ritazza coffe bar located down towards the C and D gates which overlooks one of the thresholds so you can pick up both the landings and the take-offs.
If you want one place thats good food-wise try this www.boxty-house.ie.

Well if i was you (will be in your position on the 18th June), i would take your camera and stay out at the airport for a few hours.
If aviation photography isn’t your thing then head into Dublin and check out some of the pubs/bars and the shopping area (O’Connell St)
I personally loved Dublin city centre when i visited last October. Although with Ryanair leaving my luggage in Bristol (Actually Bristol Ariport’s fault – Sorry Ryanair) it didnt make the first 24 hours much fun.

Check this link out, it should have all the information you need:

Either way have a great time in Dublin whatever you get up to. 🙂
All the best
