Dublin Airport or EIDW is the busiest airport in the whole of Ireland. North and South. Many flights operate in here in opne day. Dublin has become such a metropolitan city which means people are travelling here and students are studying English in Trinity College.
The airline to have most of the slots here is Aer lingus. They operate BAE-146, 737’S, A320’S, A321’S and A330-200 and A330-300’s. The furthest destination Aer Lingus travels to is LAX (Los Angeles Airport)
The second biggest airline is Ryanair. They only operate to 21 Airports. Can anyone tell me why Ryanair is Based at Dublin and all of the are Irish Registered but their MAIN HUB is at London Stansted where 66 destinationas are served?
The
3rd biggest airline at Dublin is Aer Arann which operate Inter-Ireland flights using ATR-42 and ATR-72’S to Belfast City:D , Cork, Shannon, Donegal, Knock, Kerry and Galway, Birmingham, Bristol, Prestwick, Edinburgh, Isle of Man, Luton, Manchester, Southampton and Waterford they also operate inter-island flights on the islands of Inishmann and Inisheer.
Dublin sees a lot of foreign visitors from America and Europe.
Dublin is a really charming airport and is great for Aircraft Spotting but **** WARNING**** You need a car to get to this place. Its not inside the terminal its beside runway 28/10 **** You are about 25-50 Metres from the runway and there are sand hard piles which take you up about 2 Metres which makes photography very easy. You can’t miss it. But I would need to give you directions but I havent go them. Next time I go down I will draw a map. I thoroughly reccomend you make a visit to Dublin as it is a pleasureful airport.

Sorry Comet I think I should have worded it better. What I meant to say is that is there a viewing terrace or spectators area, specifically for watching the planes?
Thanks

You obviously took no notice of what I said in my post!!
It is very easy to observe aircraft from inside the teminal at Dublin.

Sometimes I think I’m going to start up a spotters bike hire service from airport terminals. Often the best way to get around those perimeter roads and you don’t get hassled for parking in front of the fire gates. 😉

The Irish EI- registrations have been a great “flag of conveniance” for RYR over the years!

id like to point out that i got a taxi to and from the terminal when i was going to the spotting location and each way it was 5 euro which is only £3 each way. Just ask to go along the perimeter road!
Mind you the runway can switch and there is another hump at the other end so if u arrive at the first one and it changes ull need a taxi but thousands go along here as main road from airport!

Dublin Airport is a very busy airport. Ryanair only operates B737’s. Aer Lingus only operates the most up to date fleet of 737’s, A320’s, A321’S, A330’S and BAE-146’S. Aer lingus have sold all of their 747-100’s. Dublin airport sees quite a lot of transatlantic flights coming form New York ( 2 x JFK + 1 x Newark)
1 x Toronto, 1 x Boston, 1 x Los Angeles, 1 x Atlanta, 1 x Washington, 1 x Phidelphia, 1 x Florida. Now thats quite a lot for a small Island like Ireland. There are a lot of Aircraft from England and Scotland and as I said Aer Arann.
Aer Lingus operate a lot of flights to the continent, to Germany, France etc.
I can assure you Dublin Airport is not tiny it is rather large bu my standards.
Have a look for yourself! at www.dublin-airport.com
I dont like shooting photos through the glass. Where I suggested at the top is best due to arr and dep aircraft.

Dublin is good for photography from inside the main terminal, I discovered that when I was there in June, and the short distance from the terminal to the runway makes it easy to shoot video footage of aircraft as they take off and depart, without having to go somewhere on the perimeter.

Also there is a far grater number of potential pax in London that in Dublin, simple.
Not been to DUB for about 12 years and it was a pretty quiet airport then. Had Ryanair BAC1-11’s, and HS748’s!Also EIN SD360’s and 747’s. There was not much in the way of foreign traffic then. Although we saw some interesting Aeroflot flights at Shannon.
