This time not the observation terrace, but for the first time the park next to the train station. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there (further 15 minutes if the northern runway is used), but the results are quite nice. Shooting here can be a challenge though, due to the large number of trees your angles will be limited, and the planes are in view only a short time. A wide-angle lense might help here though.
This place is no longer dominated by LH, although they obvioulsy still got a large presence. These days Air Berlin is the largest operator at DUS. This was of course to be expected. Air Berlin always had a large position here, and after their take over of LTU this only grew larger.
All photos where made with the 30D and Sigma 70-200 2.8, except for the LTU A330, it was shot with the 30D and Sigma 18-55 3.5-5.6. As with all other spots around DUS, having a large lense is not a requirement. Only a disadvantage really.
As usual a few more photos at my website. Mostly photos with grey skies.
One question for the MAN crowd. I have seen a PIA 773 and a 772 flying over heading what appears to be for Manchester. I have identified the 773 as AP-BID. Can someone ID the 772 for me? It should have arrived saturday around 16:30 local.
Another flyer seen at DUS:

From www.ringwayreports.com we had 3 flights that day, Sat 9
BGJ ISB-MAN
BHW LHE-MAN
BGK ISB-MAN-JFK
Thanks. Seems that the planes I have seen might be have been bound for another airport then (LHR most likely). I am convinced I have seen AP-BID, it has an easily identifiable tail and it is a 773 which stands out anyway. The other one I saw does not fit the timeframes.
