Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum

I had a quick stop in to the museum on my way home from Glasgow yesterday. I had spoke to the museum secretary prior to my visit but due to other commitments he was unable to open the place up at the time I requested. However, he had no problem with me taking photos from the surrounding field. All being well I shall return better prepared at the end of next week.
Anyway, these are some of the results from a very wet Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum. Enjoy…

Dumfries Lightning.

The Lightning was’nt in the photo’s, it has’nt been fully assembled yet, it should be viewable sometime late spring time.

Thanks for that guys….and I see from the News section of the D&GAM website that there is indeed a situation with the Museum’s tenure at the former RAF Tinwald Downs. Worth keeping an eye on this one perhaps.

The airliner fuselage in the background is G-AWZJ a Trident 3 that used to be at Glasgow airport before being broken up. I beleive there is also another nose section from a Trident 1 as well which is G-ARPP.

Hope this helps

It’s the fuselage of HS Trident 3B G-AWZJ,which they’ve had for a few years now. The museum also recently acquired the cockpit section of Trident 1C G-ARPP which was scrapped at Glasgow Abbotsinch a couple of years ago.
Just found the museum’s website…

What is the airliner fuselage section visible in the background to the last three pics? BAC1-11 perhaps?

All,

I’ve read on another forum that the collection is under threat due to a hike in rent. Anyone know anymore?

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. I am hoping for a visit in June when on holiday up that way.
