Hi
I am thinking of going to the Dunkeswel Air Day (Devonair airshow) but I am unable to find a link to a seb site giving details abou it.
I am unable to find much information about the show. I have tried a couple of links including to the Devon Strut web site and all it gives is a date and location.
Has anyone any idea when the gates are open and when the flying starts and ends. All I can find so far is that a BBMF Spitfire and Hurricane as well as the Lancaster is due to attend. Also perhaps a Catalina, Sea Fury and and possibly an aircraft from the Hanger 11 collection.
The participation details are from operators lists and may not reflect actul participation.
Any info anybody. Seems a nice location to have a show.
Thanks anybody in advance.

Only ran into T-6 Flyer, buying books and models as usual, although what I think he really wanted was a German Military uniform. He seemed rather taken with the people dressed up in World War 2 period clothing.

Ja, Ja very funny. Its a bit of an on going thing between my friends. I’ve always had an interest in German second-line types (especially the Jungmann and the captured NAA.57s and 64s) and have over the years built up a considerably large book and model collection as a result.
Once when I was still living at home, I used to buy the daily evening paper and in there one day someone was advertising a German Officer’s uniform. I duly ringed it (just for interests sake…honest), but my Mum sat down to have a little read and noticed the pen mark and without saying a word went into my room and went through my wardrobes to see if I had bought the uniform. As my parents lived through the war, they cant see my interest in Luftwaffe trainers and so must have thought I was taking things a little too far. Would have been terrible, if they came home one day and caught me parading around the house in those funny trousers.
So, the story still continues…………

And yes, the 15-20min walk from crowd line around to the static and other traders wasn’t funny. Dunkeswell shows of old (circa 92-93) just stretched it all along what was yesterdays static line. Hopefully Lottery will cough up for a repeat though.
I have just posted some on the photographic forum. Yes it was a long walk!

BBMF didn’t come down, Peter ended the show in the Spit XI
No, I realised that – explained why I never saw or heard the BBMF as I left.

Ah, I heard the PR.XI take off again as I got in the car to go at 1655. I saw the black rain cloud approaching rapidly and by that time the light had pretty much gone, so sticking around for the BBMF didn’t seem like a good idea.
Well done indeed! This really is what airshows should be like. You can keep your RIATs!

For what was billed as a one off display, i thought that they did very well. A good selection of aircraft and well done for getting the Mk11 up again at the end of the show following the news that the BBMF couldn’t get off the ground.

Well…..any bouguets or brickbats for the Dunkeswell show ?
Yak 11 fan, SEMAE, T6flyer, HMS Vulture……. anyone
Really enjoyed the display. Not been to an airshow for years and thoroughly enjoyed it all.
Just a little on the cold side and so far to walk from the aircraft park to the public enclosure. (must remember to dress properly next time I venture out).

Sorry to hear that as its also a good opp’ to view the JP.
Cheers…….
I know Dave. I was very much looking forward to meeting you and the red/white monster!
Maybe some other time if it doesn’t work out tomorrow?
By: Dave T - 12th August 2006 at 20:50
Doesn’t look like I’ll be able to make it at the moment unfortunately due to family commitments, but circumstances might change tomorrow.
If I don’t make it, I hope the show is a success!
