Did a search but couldn’t find anything.
Looks like the end is in sight for flying (and Top Gear) at Dunsfold.
They include a Monument, a Museum and a ‘Runway Park’ in the plans, although not much in way of tarmac…

Good god no!
Will the homes be reasonably priced?
Sorry that was my top gear joke! π It is the only place I can think of in Surrey I actually enjoy working at π I don’t own a posh 4×4 or play golf, so count me out!

It will be a sad day when/if it happens, it was a great place to work!
In the present financial climate however it may take a while unless somebody is willing to invest heavily.

Depends on how you define reasonable I guess – for anyone who isn’t familiar with the area Dunsfold airfield is about 15mins drive south of Guildford, or 15mins from Horsham, both have rail stations with regular services to ‘the big smoke’ so easy access to London = prime commuter-belt country = high prices. Ca. 40mins from the south coast, the greenery of the South Downs a few minutes drive away, lots of farmland round about (for the time being, till that too gets built over….
In short – probably not much will be within the reach of first-time buyers earning a national average or “typical” wage. However, the way house prices are going in the current market, then who knows.

I always feel slightly nauseous when the word βconsultationβ is used these days! At least they are including the airfields past in the plans. Will the homes be reasonably priced? π

Apart from Top Gear, don’t forget that Aces High use it and ther are always some GA types near one of the hangers when they do they star in the reasonably priced car bit…
I hope they don’t build on it, personally.

The plans look very nice. Some aviation content would remain with the siting of the heliport. Would the provision of said heliport be solely for the use of the Surrey Air Ambulance or are the prospective developers hoping that the houses will be all very expensive and the owners are likely to require the use of a heliport?
Plenty of scope for naming the roads ‘Clarkson Drive’, ‘Hammond Avenue’ and ‘James Way.’ Perhaps one of the so called neighbourhood squares could be named in honour of one of the ‘Stig’s’?
Seriously though, how much is Dunsfold used in an aviation capacity? And I’ve always thought somewhere like Donington Park would be a better venue for Top gear as they have the exhibition halls there, the Motor Museum, a challenging circuit which changes level rather than being flat like Dunsfold. And Derby/Leicester/Nottingham East Midlands Airport is right on the doorstep.
