Duplicate P-51 identity?

I recall an article in one of the Key Aero magazines a few years ago where a restored P-51 in the UK was being exported to the USA only to find that aircraft’s identity was already registered with the FAA and flying in the USA, and luckily the UK aircraft was foind to be mistakenly identified as a rare combat veteran aircraft from an Ace in the European Theatre, when it was actually a rare combat veteran aircraft from an Ace in the Pacific Theatre.

Does anyone recall the aircraft involved and the magazine article?

That rang a bell, I’m sure I also read a thread (on WIX?) about it, it went into quite a lot of detail. A quick Google came up with this precis, it is the ex TFC example.

44-12016 N98CF

‘While based in Sweden, in the late 1990s SE-BGK adopted what was thought to be its original Swedish identity as 26158 of Flygvapnet Wing F16.  In 2002 the aircraft was sold to The Fighter Collection becoming “Twilight Tear”, G-CBNM. In 2007, it moved to the USA subsequently becoming N98CF and later, after a legal judgement on its heritage, being painted as “Fragile But Agile”.’
