The Thomsonfly programme is now well underway and the first month of action seems to relatively consistant levels of punctuality – from my untrained eye.
Apart from the based BY738, we don’t have much in the way of other charter visitors this summer; but here is a rundown for anyone interested:-
Monday:-
Balkan – Bourgas
Pegasus – Dalaman
Thomsonfly – Ibiza
Astraeus – Reus
Wednesday:-
Helios – Larnaca
Thursday:-
Air Europa? – Arrecife
Friday:-
Unknown – Mahon (can anyone tell me who runs this; a strange code)
Spanair – Ibiza
Saturday:-
Spanair – Palma & Alicante
Iberworld – Palma
Interestingly, the Spanair jet flies a based programme after landing on Friday and then does the Ibiza, Palma & Alicante runs.
Rumours on pp that at last the 2nd based Baby 737 will materialise for summer 2006 (I’ll believe it when I see it) and the local journal is apparently claiming this morning that Ryanair will announce a 4 aircraft base at either Teesside or Newcastle very shortly.

Scott, thanks for the info.
What is the Spanair Ibiza flight that shows on BBC arrivals every Friday if it isn’t what they say it is?

LOL – Suppose not!

No way they will give up MME-LHR. I promise.
They have now got the new Airbuses in on the LHR routes such as MME and LBA, absolutely no chance they will give it up.
That kind of certainity and bmi just do not go together anymore Tom. No one knows what the hell they are playing at. 🙁

I take your point but bmi and bmi baby are under the same ownership unlike Jet 2 and KLM so it could be a way for bmi to use LHR slots on long haul routes but still give MME a London service. Hope this theory is wrong and Im looking on the bad side of things.

GirJet fly the Friday Mahon, but rarely use their own F100’s (the only one to visit was the first week, EC-IVO) the last 3 weeks they have used Hello MD90 HB-JIA
Spanair don’t come on a Friday (Ibiza), the MD80 on a Saturday works PMI-MME-ALC-MME-PMI (they used Air Slovakia B752 OM-SNA on the ALC-MME-PMI portion) last week
Also, the Monday Reus is flown by EirJet not Astraeus (EirJet haven’t visited with one of their own A320’s yet! – they have used Futura B734’s for the first 3 weeks, then the last 2 weeks North American Airlines B752 N754NA)
The Thursday Arrecife is Iberworld A320

I really dont see MME-LHR been under risk, its like saying was KLMs LBA-AMS under risk when Jet2 started it.
The likes of LHR and AMS will be full because of connecting passengers, cant see bmi operating a 3 or 4 times a day that isnt profitable, they obviously dont expect MME-LGW to have any impact.

But is LHR-MME on bmi at risk?

Certainly Girjet have a Fokker in Spanair colours.
This is a GJT flight code however – at least I know who GJT are now!
Thanks guys.

And that Gir Jet Fokker operates for Spanair I think?
