Here’s some from a less visited airport (my local)… Durham Tees Valley 🙂
The weather on the 8th Jan was awful but seeing as I went over for the afternoon, here’s the pics I came back with, the Wizz is awful but I thought I may as well include it!
Also included a TOM 757 from Tuesday 5th Feb for comparison!
Hope you like!
Scott 😀
Ryanair EI-DWD departing for Gerona
Thomsonfly’s G-BYAE arriving from Alicante, where I suspect the weather was much nicer!
G-BYAE flaring
Next up was Eastern’s G-MAJP from Aberdeen
And finally the Wizz from Warsaw, HA-LPC today
And from Tuesday 5th Feb, G-BYAL from Alicante

No we don’t have a 757 based, that is NCL’s based one. Infact we don’t have based TOM aircraft at all this summer coming!
The runway as said is about 7500ft and we handle DC-10’s regularly (4x a week at the moment) although these troop flights have been A330’s and B747’s in the past (we have seen a range of airlines! Monarch, MyTravel, Air Comet, Air Caraibes, XL France….and more!).

MME has a 7,500 metre runway
Wow.. that is long. That’s about 5 miles! :p
Some nice shots from somewhere a little different. The last is my favourite.

MME used to see heavies on a more regular basis than NCL did (before EK started).
747s, DC-10s, A330s and B767s used to do regular flights to the Gulf (normally Qatar) for the military.
Dunno if there has been any recently though?
Nice pics btw 🙂

Great shots there! Does MME have a TOM 757 based?
MME has a 7,500 metre runway up at NCL we have a 7,600 meter runway and last year we handled a 747 twice a week for just under a month when there was one operating on behalf of Monarch. So MME could proberly handle a heavy. The last 747 “type” that i can think of that landed there was Air Force one a few years ago.
MME also takes in allot of Mil charters for the Near by Catterick Garrison so im guessing there may be the odd heavy operating.

Hi Steve
Ignore previous uncompleted post!
Just happened to notice your question…….Runway is around 7000ft so not really suitable for “proper” heavies operations but did see Tristars and suchlike on Spanish charters in the past.

Is Durham Tees Valley capable of handling the heavy 747 types
