Dutch KDC-10 at H-Burt

Was at work today and as I was parking to go into the building where I worked I noticed a DC-10 on the far side of the flightline.

Wasn’t until a few hours later when it taxied by that I realized it was not just any DC-10, but a KDC-10 with Dutch markings………the flying boom was there and all so there’s no mistaking what I saw.

Was in a rather nice looking grey paint scheme with the big Dutch markings on the sides and Royal Netherlands Air Force (I think) painted on the side…

Needless to say not something I’m used to seeing. We’ve got a big exercise going on later this week and I do believe Dutch special forces will be involved.

My only guess is the tanker was used to bring them here and perhaps to provide refuelling support for the various aircraft that will be involved when the exercise starts in two days…..that’s just a guess though.

Sorry I know you guys are tail number nuts, but I don’t remember which tail it was though if I’m not mistaken the Dutch only have two actual KDC-10’s (and another DC-10 that’s not a tanker?)……if I’m wrong please correct me.
