Has anyone heard anything?
Assording to a press release by the Dutch MOD, the Dutch Spitfire was involved in a landing mishap tonight. While/during landing, it ran of the runway shortly after 19.00 lt. Pilot is ok, damage to the airframe is unknown

I wish them well with the repairs, I’ll be interested to see how the engine fairs this time as the prop is VERY much shortened in the pictures, more so than when it landed at Volkel AB (hope the spelling is near!) with the gear unlocked back in the late 90’s (I have on of those blades still in my hallway) I’m sure someone will be able to sort them out, again, I wish them luck!

Oh dear 😮 That is a real shame as it will take a lot of time and money to put that right. No doubt she will fly again but it might be a while….
It’s the third time that this particular airframe suffered gear problems since its restoration, statistically it shouldn’t happen again for some 20 years or so, but that’s what they said after the second occurrence as well 🙁

That looks painful.Hope the hub is Ok..And the landing locks.We all know how elusive they are…:( Good luck with the repair job…Looks like the pilot is shouting the groundcrew at the pub for the next few weeks.:D
