Dutch Spits?

Anybody know if there are any pics on the web of the red/orange target tug MkXVI Spits used by the Dutch post war? I have the “Technical Study” book with some photos in it but was hoping to find something on the net. Thanks, Chad Veich.

Thanks for the info jbs. Not sure why but I had it in my mind that they were high back XVI Spits. No matter, I’d still like to find a source of pictures. Regards, Chad Veich.

No, you are not (talking a load of old rubbish)! The remains of one of the machines are surviving (or at least it was some 8 years ago). Hidden since the late Fifties. BW Roger

Chad,

This would be the “Schreiner” Spitfires which I have as the following,

BS147 Tr.9 – PH-NFN
MJ828 Mk.IX – PH-NFR
MK475 Mk.IX – PH-NFO
PT986 Mk.IX – PH-NFP

Now there is a rumour going round of a “unknown” Spitfire in storage in the Netherlands and by putting 2 and 2 together it may be one of these – but then again I may be talking a load of old rubbish :p

Regards,
