Dutch Stirling project update

Visited the Stirling project at the Aircraft Recovery Group yesterday. In a few months, great progress was made. A shot through the side window shows the cockpit lay out (so far). BW Roger

And it is spacious (the cockpit), or better said enormous for a Ww2 bomber. You can stand inside with severall persons and it still isnt “narrow”. BW Roger

Thanks!

Joking aside, it’s an interesting view of the ‘other’ cockpit of the great trio of RAF Heavies. Interesting that the Halifax, Lancaster and Stirling’s cockpits turned out so different in looks. Expains why bringing back the Stirling from extinction is so important.

Cheers

Great Pics Roger.

I presume it’s the version for round-shaped aircrew? What length lens was it you used? 😀

Very interesting, how much of a Stirling are they planning to recreate/restore?
