Vimy at Duxford 10 June

Thanks Keithnewsome

I’ll grab a few of your images for possible further use with the Vimy. As you may read elsewhere, the Vimy made it to Ireland for display this weekend.

Flyover

This wonderful aircraft flew over Hereford at what looked like little more than 150ft this afternoon…what a gorgeous sight and sound it was!

Ok Yak,

For the England – Australia 1994 flight a pair of Chevys were fitted

For the England – South Africa 1999 flight a pair of BMW’s

And for the Atlantic crossing 2005 a pair of Orenda’s which are still fitted.

Hope that helps?

I thought they were BMW V12 engines.

What engines does this have now? Last time I saw it up close it was green and had Chevrolet engines in it….

Darren and Keith,

Great pictures and nice to meet You both on that wet, cold (flaming June?) late afternoon. (I was the one in the Brooklands cap!) Thanks for including Me in a couple of the pics!!!

DUXFORD 10 June 09

Keith:

I’m a volunteer at Brooklands Museum and a member of the Vimy team. I was at Duxford on 10 June and really like your pictures. I’ve some of mine posted on a web album and would like permission to use one of two of yours. Would this be OK?

Have you been letting Steve play with your kit?

Nice photos πŸ™‚

No – he had his own camera, I just did a bit of work on the shot and popped it online for him.:)

Here’s a few shots from a very wet Duxford yesterday evening.
Today, the Vimy should depart for Ireland around 11am.

She flew late on yesterday, and after I had left for home, so thanks to Steve (who weathered the rain!) for sending me this picture to put on the forum.

The Vimy will be at Duxford until October(I think) and then it will retire to Brooklands. It would be nice to it flying at Legends…fingers crossed!

Nice pics thanks for sharing.

Does anyone know when the Vimy is going back to Brooklands or is she at Duxford for a few weeks more?, and if so would she fly at Legends?
