Probably been seen on here before, but it was nice to see the Vacher Hurricane proudly displaying its armament….

It was good on the Saturday to be able to get up very close to the aircraft ; a nice change from the usual ‘flightline walk’.

Very nice Martin, the Hurri shots are refreshingly different!
Like the bump, I too think that the Tucano looks fantastic in the camo scheme, glad the RAF can still commemorate their past in this individual manner.

Very nice pictures guys, I too am glad I gritted my teeth and ignored the forecast, I very nearly didnt go, but I reasoned that when the rains came I could give the hangars a thorough inspection.

It was nice to see one Tucano wearing Brian Kingcome’s old squadron codes, I have Robert Taylors “Tally Ho!” featuring Kingcomes ‘F’ and Wellum’s ‘G’

‘Parky’ looks like he was enjoying himself.

So where’s all the pictures people?!

Here’s a couple from both days. Glad I went – despite poor weather forecasts and the Ash Cloud, it was a good weekend…..

The ‘breeze’ was across the runway instead of down it, so outside limits and I think it headed back to Coningsby.

dont know whats changed, never used to need 10 knots head wind,
mind you I left 20 years ago –

Originally the RAF grounded the Hawk as well, which was not flying in, but Duxford based. Later they relented and we were treated to an excellent display, with the weather providing a lovely mix of soft grey/white clouds and blue sky.

I very nearly didn’t go due to the weather reports but glad I did!
Anyone know what was wrong with the fourth Hurricane? It kept firing up and then switching off and then didn’t join the other three.
Still haven’t seen four in the air yet! Didn’t happen at the North Weald show either [ though wasn’t planned to ].

The Volcanic ash cloud prevented the Typhoon and Lancaster displaying as the Northern arfields were within the effected areas. The organisers did well, as it could have been alot worse if the show was cancelled all together.

Lanc needs 10+ knots on the nose to stop safely at Duxford, wind was under this level, or so I have been told.

Very pleasant day at Duxford today, I must say.:)

Nice Spring weather – for a change – enough flying to keep the very small crowd amused , you could get much closer to the aircraft than the usual ‘flightline walk’ plus a full complement of trade stalls to peruse without being jostled : for once you could go back and that elusive item would still be there ! ๐Ÿ˜‰
