Duxford 1982

Help wanted for the correct identities of the T-33s, Meteor and Vampires used in filming for (I think) a BBC mini-series called Aerodrome (?).

On 05/09/82 I logged

T-33’s ‘Z-47′ and Z-86’ and also T-33 G-JETT all painted black.

Vampire (single seat) ‘Z-77’ (I think just was VZ304 ?)
Vampire T11 ‘Z-52’ ( this was Sandy Topen’s G-VTII WZ507)

I am sure that the IWM Meteor NF11 also recieved a coat of black paint.

I shall post some photos if I can find them over the weekend.

That was flown by Dan Griffiths at the September Duxford airshow in 2000. I was told that at the end of the season it was being checked over to place it on the G-register. During these checks alot of work was found to be required, which was going to cost too much money so it has sat at North Weald ever since.
In another magazine a couple of months ago there was an article on Area 51 in Essex, in the interview with Chris Hudson he says they are currently working on a T-33. Is it this one?

I can’t recall G-TJET / G-NASA being at North Weald, it was at Cranfield for some years. Aces High sold it in 86 to Nigel Brendish shortly before he was killed in a Cessna 150, who owned it after that I don’t know but it’s registered owner between 96 and 2001 when it was cancelled by the CAA was DeHaviland Aviation. Any updates would be appreciated.

The two T-33’s used were G-JETT & G-TJET. G-JETT being the ex Black Knight G-OAHB and now with Golden Apple Trust as G-TBRD and the Aces High G-TJET. I think G-TJET returned to the U.S. I also think that the Vampire was Vintage Aircrraft Teams G-VTII. I have an air shot of the 2 T-33’s, i’ll try and post that.
