Duxford – 28Dec11

80th and final visit of the year. The plan for the day was to do in-camera HDR (High Dynamic Range) using a tripod for a low ISO number and long exposures. Between last night when I check it and arriving at Duxford this morning, the ball head on the tripod decided it didn’t want to play any more. On to ‘Plan B’. Hand held HDR but with higher ISO numbers. Many thanks to Joe for an invite into 3 hangar and a close up photo session with a Spitfire and Mustang and to Peter for a close up look/see of the bit of painting on the B-17 fuselage.

The two images below are straight out of the camera and just reduced in size for posting. The first one is the correctly exposed, according to the camera, image for the settings I used. For comparison the second is the in-camera HDR image where the bright areas of the under exposed image and the dark areas of the over exposed image are overlaid onto the correctly exposed image to create an image of correct overall exposure.

Loverly photo’s Brian-thanks for sharing.:)

P.s. that CASA III in the background still looks a bit forlorn- I’d love to give it some TLC.

Regards Rad.
