Hello
This should be fun.
Duxford, BBMF Flying Day. The whole of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight fleet is expected to arrive (including the Chipmunks) to celebrate the Flight’s 50th season and flying displays will be held in the afternoon, together with ‘meet the pilots’, etc.

I took 900+ pics today so when i have got them off the camera i will post a couple up.
Yes please.
Perhaps if everybody posted their favourite photo from the day we could have a virtual display for those of us unable to get along?

Well what a great day it was, ok could have done with some more flying or a few more aircraft displaying but what there was, was great although the highlkight is either the spitfire/typhoon combo or the whole BBMF classic line up together.

Well, as long as they stay somewhere and don’t all have to queue up to use the Elsan in the Lanc!!! π
Have a great day today, people.

This might have been raised on another thread but a quick trawl did not find anything.
Where do all the pilots stay when their aircraft are on the DX field, is the Officers Mess habitable for personnelβs overnight or is it B & B’s and hotels?
Thanks.
Brian.

Has anyone anymore news on this event, otherwise I shall ring DX tomorrow afternoon, find out more and post on here, I’m stumped as to what time to arrive. The Hungarians are beside themselves and already preparing cameras.
Unfortunately they have invited us over for a barbie tomorrow night which means much drink over the whole day for them, it takes that long for the pot of goulash to be cooked, so I’m concerned about their state of health on saturday morning. My missus says I’ve got to drive tomorrow, as she wants to join in the ancestral fun, which is a good idea in order for me to keep a cool head on saturday.

Not sure about other sales outlets, but the BBMF sales trailer will be in attendance, and I hope that their will be chances galore to get autographs from all of us on the day.

Good gal is my missus:D
may I suggest, Kenbo old chap, that you cease calling your good gal ‘the present Mrs. Buckshot’ as it sounds rather like you change models regularly, and ladies don’t take too kindly to that sort of inference…..

Shiney and Clive are the extra pilots for the event
By: spade grip - 28th April 2007 at 16:48
BBMF say that for the mass flypast they will need extra current pilots to fly all the fighters, do we know who the guest pilots will be? I would have thought Bob Judson and Shiney Simmons would fit the bill as they are still RAF. and both still pretty current.
I also noticed from HAC’s web site that Shiney is missing from their pilot line up this year, surely one of the BBMF’s more carasmatic ex pilots needs to be displaying warbirds.

I guess that the people who run the Duxford are simply civil servants and will be working thier normal Saturday hours. In affect the BBMF are the same as any other corparate sponsor who has highered the airfield for the weekend. No special arrangements would be made for early openning unless somebody (BBMF ?) would be prepared to pay for them or suitably trained volunteers were available to help out. I would guess that the additional entrance fee is designed to cover for extra manning costs, or are BBMF getting a share ? I assume that BBMF would have prefered to have had the show at Coningsby but security and space would be an issue.
Another point does anybody know if any of the regular airshow/model sellers will be at Duxford on the 5th ?

Ken.

On a normal day, the gates to the site are opened at 0930 with the museum opening at 1000. I don’t think the people at DX realise how well attended this event is going to be.
