A few of us even bumped into “our” Steve Patterson at the Red Lion.
Steve just loves flying the flag!
Hey , is Mr Patterson a big guy in a people-carrier or a small chap in a Clio sized motor ?? , I can’t grasp the scale of the photo ?? 😀 . Only kidding , thanks to everybody who has posted photos , I got up early as I thought somebody may have posted some shots of the arrivals – I’m well impressed ( and a tad envious ) . And I’m looking forwards to seeing the ” Patterson – The Tour – Part 2 ” photos , bring the chap up here !! , the land of whisky and golf !! ( very few old aeroplanes though ) .
Have a nice day , and thanks for the quality photos !! ( keep ’em coming )

Wow, brilliant photos. Thanks. I hope all of you who are attending today and tomorrow have a wonderful time.
Who’s Hurricane is that, and why the white and then red squadron codes?
Also, who’s Spitfire Mk I (or is it a Mk II)? Is that the ex-Clive du Cros replica? It looks smashing but pity it hasn’t been given some squadron markings. Oh well.
Nice to see the P39 airborne, and the I-15. You lucky people are in for one heck of a weekend. I wish I could be there.

Nice.
That’s a LOVELY scheme on the Dutch Spitfire.
Mike J – see WIX (as before)
Mike C – well spotted. Has it flown in the UK though?

JDK – I am wondering if the Polikarpov Po.2 G-BSSY could hold the claim for being the first in British skies.

Great pics, but one thing I’ve noticed is the lack of any P51Ds (bar Twilight Tear of course)
I think there will be a lot of Arrivals in the Morning! Not sure which Mustangs are coming but the more the better!!! What happened to Paul Morgans P51 ‘Susy’?

ref: the P39. Like I said in an earlier thread they were looking for something to do this week to keep the boredom at bay and prevent mischief, well I’d say they certainly achieved that alright. Doen’t she look great? especially in UK airspace

Great Pictures! Thank You!!
What’s the story with the Sea Fury, never seen that one before????
Nice lookin thing. There always seem to have been the odd Sea Fury about over the last few years but getting them altogether has proved a bit tricky!!! Good to see her tho!

WSA, two Corsairs :- TFC’s G-FGID [ yellow nose] and a French based ac F-AZVJ [210 on the nose /VF192 markings]
By: Flood - 9th July 2004 at 21:51
Word is that is from St Petersberg and is 100% originsl including machine guns. It is a lovely a/c. It was also said that it is not a TFC a/c but a visitor, backed up by quite a few russian sounding ground crew who put her together since arrival yesterday pm.
When I saw that start up shot I immediately thought that the big guy in the camo was trying to be more authentic than anyone around who might be wearing DPM (British) camo…
What is the registration – that would solve the ‘where did it come from/who owns it’ questions: if only because we could (maybe) tie it down!

this weekend will be action packed
By: WSA - 9th July 2004 at 21:35
Is that a Corsair behind the Bearcat (in front of the Sea Fury)?
It looks like it has a yellow stripe around it’s nose, and numbers on its cowling (210?) – does anyone know who owns it, if it is a Corsair?
By: JDK - 9th July 2004 at 21:34
Thanks! I kno it a 12, due to the tapered cowlings etc…
Nice pics.
It’s great to see these. Before we get too carried away on ‘originality’, looking at these pics, the prop-boss is a giveaway that the I-15 has a An-2 engine with the 4 to 2 plade prop mod, let alone any other changes. Doesn’t detract for having it (Great, great, great…) But it ain’t exactly what was used in Finland etc… NZ Pilot methinks…
Lovely.
Now for the power of prayer over weather.
