Another advantage of the bad weather, was that a tidy sum was raised for the Bomber Command memorial appeal by generous folk coming along to meet the four “Phantom of the Ruhr” crew who were gathered together for almost certainly, the last time.

For some reason I enjoyed Sundays show more than the September which I found boring but I can not give a reason why. The Mrs agreed with me and suggested that it may have been because the weather was so bad that I appreciated what I saw more. Any one else felt the same?
I didn’t enjoy yesterday’s show all that much unfortunately, largely because I was freezing cold for most of it, and the lack of Vulcan put a dampener on things somewhat. However, I can safely say that the Patrouille France were at least twice as good as the Red Arrows when I first saw them at the Duxford Autumn airshow probably in around 1987.* Still, well done to everyone who worked hard in really tough conditions to put some kind of show on. I also really enjoyed meeting Tony Blackman, Martin Withers and all the other Vulcan VIPs who were in attendance.
*Patrouille France treated us to 2-3 flybys, the Reds only gave us one

XH668,
You should not rely on others to get you there, I myself dont drive. In fact it works out cheaper on fuel to get the train to Cambridge and shuttle bus it from there.
If you wish to go to a show go off your own back and do something you want to do, dont blame others if there are viable routes open to you.
Living in Essex i know its possible to get there by other means
But if you have no money and someone offers you a free lift thats what you take. 😮

I went, despite the rain and the bitter cold I had a great day, Highlight for me was the Typhoon. I see them all the time out of Coningsby, but to see the all be it limited display was great 😀
But everything else was great too 😀 don’t get me wrong 🙂Thank you to everyone at Duxford for making the most of the breaks in the cloud and putting on a darn good show, I was very impressed 🙂
Sometime tomorrow I may get around to putting up some vids on youtube, right now I’m far to tired and my feet hurt (huge blisters from wet shoes :()
I must agree a cracking show despite the wet start. Enough warbirds for me, and the Typhoon display was absolutely stonking!!! Plus the P40-B flew too, and the finale executed by OFMC’s ‘MH434’ and ‘Ferocious Frankie’ what more could a warbird addict ask for!?!?!
Thank you once again Duxford, very enjoyable!!!

My guess might be wrong. I am informed that last time the F16 based itself at Cambridge.

Thought it was Mildenhall myself.

Shame the organisers couldn’t have been more inventive with the list of acts. Okay the Vulcan is U/S but surely they could have found some replacements such as the Sea Vixen, Hunter(s), Hanger 11 and add your favourite aircraft. There is not even a Chinook!
Only on Sunday, but I might still go though if the weather is OK. 🙂
Shirley you must have missed the fact the Air Atlantique’s Rapide G-AIDL has been added to the flying display – what more could you ask for!! 😀

Pity, they’re only down the road at North Weald. :diablo:

F16 Practice Display
Thank you for the info Mr Angry and Moggy ,i will be going saturday then ,if last year is anything to go by ,,this F16 Display is very unusual ,and NOT what you normally see an F16 do in a Display ,as it will pair up with a Spitfire or Mustang and do things not normally seen .
Cheers Terry
