Duxford Airspace Airshow 21st May 2006

Came across this linked off the RAF Careers website

AirSpace Air Show
Date: 21 May 2006
Location: IWM Duxford

A showcase of the aircraft types that will feature in Duxford’s dramatic new AirSpace exhibition telling the story of British and Commonwealth aviation.

Aircraft such as the Lancaster, Tornado, Sea Hawk, Anson and Spitfire are just a few of the aircraft that have helped shape the world in which we live and are due to take part in this aerial tribute to Britain’s aviation heritage.

Any chance of this event including the Dh9 then? Sounds like an interesting show, and possibly one of the last chances to see the great aircraft going into Airspace outside for one last time (I presume they’re going to be outside)

I wouldn’t hold your breath. However, you may well see the first complete and flying Typhoon to visit Duxford in over 60 years…

It seems to me from reading the ‘blurb’ that the idea of this show is that the flying display features types that will be included in the AirSpace ‘shed’ once it is finished, not the actual airframes that are going in it.

In that case, I shall look forward to them fly a TSR-2, a Comet 4, a Canuck, etc., just not necessarily those ones going into the shed! :diablo:

I hope IWM take the opportunity to pay tribute to Ray Hanna?

I wrote to the IWM a few years back when they commemorated the Dambusters. The IWM Lanc was in the Superhanger.

I was told that they did not have the “funds” or “resource” to remove it from the Hanger…..

A few of the smaller bits might come out but cant say IWM would be that bothered….
