I was just bustin’ ya chops, it read like they had done all the work on all 3 aircraft in only 7 weeks 😉

After completion of Spitfire PM631 for BBMF, Chipmunk G-AOTR flew two weeks ago after a thorough rebuild.
Hopefully the next will be the Yale, engine running recently

Nothing de Havilland makes a terrible noise unless it’s in a crash or a major airframe malfunction.
I remember the Sea Herons climbing out of Mawgan, they made a terrible noise!

If someone owns photos, I’m sure Neil Aird would apprecaite an update on the airframe for his great beaver website:

I believe ARCo put the windows in during the rebuild – I know that the plan certainly was (and presumably still is) to use the aircraft as a crew transport/support aircraft for the rest of the fleet

Good grief – I never knew this one was put on the civilian register, let alone superbly restored and civilianised! When were the extra windows fitted, as G-BUCJ or by ARCO recently? Anyone know what’s going to happen to her, as it doesn’t exactly fit in with the rest of Duxford’s machines? Wouldn’t mind betting it has been refurbished for sale.

Congratulations to everyone at DX Area51 involved on this fine restoration.

Does the AAC still fly its aircraft?
Regards
Yes, The AAC HAF example is currently finishing off a winter maintainance so it should be out to play in the spring.

One of my most abiding memories is of being strafed by a Beaver on Salisbury Plain in 1966. We had been camping overnight but were woken at dawn by a posse of Skeeters landing nearby. We had a quick breakfast and then set off on Scooter and Moped but were spotted by intrepid Beaver pilot who proceeded to show us how low he could fly down the road. Great stuff!

ARCO’s third completed project this year: G-DHCZ flew for the first time today in very poor weather.

This is good news, I’m looking forward to seeing it although I can’t say that the paint scheme enhances the aeroplane! Now there are two British civilian airworthy Beavers. Does the AAC still fly its aircraft?
Regards

Exactly. In my opinion the Beaver usually makes a terrible noise, but this one sounded very sweet ;).

This one now has a three blade prop fitted so it does sound a little different.

I didn’t think it was possible to mistake the sound of the Beaver, like there is no way to mistake the sound of a Harvard.

Oh it was a Beaver.. i did wonder but i hav’nt seen or heard one for so long i wasn’t sure. Lovely sounding radial too.
Very gloomy and grey here today, and it seemed to be just flying circuits with flaps down from what i could make out.

Very nice indeed.

Wonder if it’ll be flying again on Friday? 😉

Tony did well to capture it, the weather’s been proper foul today! It was a short flight with a few approaches, then back to the shed. I guess a full test flight is to follow.

Nice to see someone getting up a Beaver……, sorry sounds bad, getting a Beaver up… :p
Used to watch them in Aldergrove on winter mornings from our apron along with the Sioux’s coughing into life….
