The main purpose of my visit was to get some photos of PL344 before its departure back to its owner, Tom Blair, in America. Many thanks to Roobarb for the walk around. See Here. Well actually I stood still and the plane moved around as a compass swing was taking place at the time. Pity the weather didn’t clear for it to fly though. Many thanks also to Martyn for a guided tour around the TFC fleet.

Interesting concept seen in ‘Area 51’

Yes, Yes and Yes, Thank you, Yes.:D
Not losing another Spitfire as it is not resident in this country. It was only over here for a bit of TLC.
I shall be having another bimble around Duxford again this Friday:rolleyes:

****** 😮 Lets hope the 109 stays in the UK and not go over to the USA 🙁 😎 . And Roobarb Do you work at DUX/ARC and can you fly Spitfire’s?

Any idea when it might be possible for Joe public to see her again?
Would like to catch her before she goes back to the states…
I parked it out on the grass for a couple of hours today when we had a move round in the hangar. If anyone was there they would have had a good view of it. We do try to please, despite our “AREA 51” nickname. It should be at DX for the next few weeks, though not neccessarily in the public hangars.

I flew in yesterday for a quick cuppa before closing time. I see the Shack has come outdoors again and the port wing tip seems to have been clipped. Can anyone say what’s going on?

It was not that, the kids i had, were at every aircraft going ‘is that a spitfire?’ all day even though they knew it was not 😡 and at Duxford that is a lot of non spitfires.
Still you are right they are our future (god help us).

They are the next generation of volunteers, restorers, collectors – to be encouraged not derided.
at least they were at Duxford and not Alton Towers
At least they were asking questions and not plugged into ipods or snorting coke !!
give em chance
